We think alike my friend.
So I'm sure you can relate when I say that even though our bedroom needed a little ...ok ok a LOT of love...
Enter stage left my mother's day gift -- a Wagner PaintReady paint sprayer!!
I have been knocking out projects left and right! (More on those another post!)
I have had these old nightstands (passed down from a brother) for quite some time. When I got them,
I knew they need just a little TLC from me that could turn them into their true potential.
Take a look at the before!
And here's the after!
Such a big difference! I didn't do anything revolutionary here, People, but I swear seeing that new coat of paint on those nightstands makes such a huge difference! Paint makes everything lovely!
And the best part about this project is that it only took an afternoon and a couple of hours the next day to sand and spray clear coat. That paint gun makes intimidating projects a breeze!
About 6:30 one evening, I drug out the nightstands and removed their hardware.
Then I set up the paint sprayer and gave it a light-covering coat. Nothing too heavy just a quick coat that would dry quickly.
Probably 30 minutes later, I sprayed another coat a little heavier.
Then a bit later I check it over and gave it one last light coat.
By this time it was really starting to come around!!!
In the meantime, I sprayed the hardware with a flat white paint and primer by Rustoleum.
Side note --This was my first time buying flat spray paint and I am truly impressed! I'll have to post about my other projects I used it with! They all turned out exactly as I had pictured them; casual and farmhouse.
The next day was reserved for sanding and sealing. If you're like me, this is the part where I get a little intimidated about where to sand versus where not to sand to achieve that rustic look. But, Folks, really all that intimidation is in your head. Scuff up the edges and let it ride. :) There is not where perfection is welcome.
After sanding it, I sprayed 2-3 coats of Valspar sealer in the spray can. Easy peasy.
As I was putting them together I got a little let down because the paint was semi-gloss and the hardware was flat so it was a contrast but I like it now! It is not common that I purchase semi-gloss paint unless I am paint trim but YOU GUYS I got such an awesome deal on this gallon!
You know how they have the unwanted paint mixes that people return or don't buy?!
Well this was that!! I ended up getting the Valspar Reserve (usually retails for $50) for $5.00!!!!
I was super pleased! I had no idea where I was going to use it but I bought it anyhow and have ended
up falling in looooove with this gray! It's so perfect!!!
I have always wanted to try the best of the best but now looking at it I don't see a whole lot of a difference in this and the Valspar Signature. But the difference may be that it holds up better to washing and wear long term not necessarily application.
In the evening of the second day, I brought the nightstands back in the house for some cozy after pictures. Take a look!
